Installation Guidelines
Whether you are working with a professional tile installer or keeping it portable, Mosaic Elements come ready for easy installation or quick hanging.
Substrate
1/4″ Easy Board from Custom Building Supplies is a new generation of lightweight backerboard designed for interior tiling projects. Easyboard is installed just like traditional cement backerboard. Custom Building Products specifies a polymer-modified thinset mortar.
Frame
Schluter-SCHIENE is designed to provide edging for tile coverings. In this application, the edging permits pre-grouting of the Mosaic Elements and manages the transition with surround tile. The anodized aluminum edging is ready for direct installation into mortar. Work with materials and tools that will not scratch or damage the anodized aluminum surface. Setting materials and grouts must be removed immediately from anodized aluminum surfaces.
Permanent installation
Mosaic Elements are ready to be embedded into mortar according to industry standards for glass mosaics. Mosaic Elements are 8″ x 8″ and 3/8″ deep. Choose a surround tile as close to 3/8″ as possible for a flush surface. Or the Mosaic Elements work well in relief from a low-profile surround tile.
Portable Installation
Mosaic Elements weigh ~1lbs and can be hung using 3M Command Medium Picture Hanging Strips.
